Regardless of them being good with one strategy, it's still a strategy that they excel at doing. I personally don't see many uses for Lycanroc (not just its Dusk Form, but all forms of Lycanroc), as being a Swords Dance sweeper is really their only means of being effective in battle. Now you may notice that the set I'm running on my Dusk Lycanroc is very much the same set I'm running on the other 2 forms of Lycanroc. Here's my Lycanroc (Dusk form)'s summary. But an important thing to note is that it only evolve from a Rockruff that has the ability Own Tempo, and it will only evolve at level 25 when it's between 5 pm to 6 pm in Ultra Sun (in Ultra Moon you'll have to do it between 5 am and 6 am). However, Dusk Lycanroc is capable of breeding, so you can hatch more of them if the one you received during the event distribution didn't have the nature you desired. They also cannot be found anywhere in the wild, cannot be evolved from any other Rockruff that doesn't have the ability Own Tempo. Whenever you're able to obtain your Dusk form Lycanroc, just remember that you can obtain just ONE! You can only receive just one Dusk Lucanroc in the game, and it's an event exclusive Pokemon. *NOTE! There is one last very important thing about Dusk Form Lycanroc (especially if you choose to raise one for competitive battle). Regardless, Dusk form Lycanroc excels at what it does if given the opportunity to set up, so do not underestimate its power and the amount of damage it can do. It also finds itself in the quite crowded base 110 speed tier, so speed ties may have to be won. However there's always a downside to every Pokemon, and for Dusk Lycanroc that comes in the form of its awful 75/65/65 defenses, making it very hard to set up with Swords Dance, and although access to a strong priority, many resist it and can easily revenge kill.

So I really expect to see Lycanroc Dusk used a lot more often, possibly moreso than its evolutionary siblings as it can effectively handle these Pokemon very well (but remember that all of the forms of Lycanroc have access to this Z-Move, so you're free to use it with its other forms as well). This Z-Move (after a boost from Swords Dance) enables Lycanroc to tear apart numerous commonly used Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y, Thundurus, Zapdos, Volcarona, Dragonite, and Mega Salamence as they share a weakness to Rock (in Charizard and Volcarona's case, it is a x4 weakness). Best of all, Lycanroc lucked out by being one of the Pokemon that got its own exclusive Z-Move, Splintered Stormshards. What's more, is that the return of move tutors gives all the Lycanroc forms moves that give them excellent coverage such as Drill Run which helps them effectively handle Steel-types as well as opposing Rock-types (both of which were able to wall Lycanroc easily). For starters, it has an excellent ability in Tough Claws which raises the power of its physical contact moves, so while it can learn all the moves its Midday form can (including the only Rock-type priority move, Accelerock), Lycanroc Dusk is able to hit things harder with those physical contact moves thanks to its Tough Claws ability.

Despite having near identical stats, Lycanroc's Dusk form is still able to carve a niche for itself by being able to do things Midday Lycanroc cannot.

All in all, it's a good thing Dusk form Lycanroc has the near same stats as its Midday form since it performs better in competitive battle than Lycanroc's Midnight form does. It shares the same bulk and defense stats, although its attack stat is 2 points higher and its speed is 2 points lower than Midday Lycanroc. Statwise, Dusk form Lycanroc is practically unchanged stats from its Midday form. But now that those games are out, we're finally able to see how good Lycanroc Dusk is and how it compares to its evolutionary siblings. Like Ash-Greninja, Lycanroc Dusk form originally debut in the anime (coincidentally also under the ownership by Ash), so it was difficult to determine what it would be capable of until it was revealed it'd be appearing to be in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. While its Midday and Midnight forms could be seen as parallels to Umbreon and Espeon (since their evolutions are triggered by the time of day), Rockruff diverges from this typical path by gaining a new evolution that can only evolve at a certain time during the evening (or dusk, hence why its new form is called that).

Looks as though Rockruff is getting a sort of Eevee treatment, as it seems to have gotten an additional evolution to the two it already has.
